The puffy white clouds you see at the beach may look unassuming, but they play a big role in creating our planet's weather.☁️ Today, NOAA launched , a major field campaign to study these clouds and improve our weather and climate prediction.

Hope your Monday isn't off to a grumpy start... We saw this “grumpy goosefish” (not an official common name, btw) during  2019 SE U.S. Deep-sea Exploration. This angler fish (Lophiodes beroe) is an ambush predator, sitting on seafloor until something tasty swims by!

  10. Looking good down there! 🚢 This photo was taken of the Ship Ron Brown by a scientist flying in the NOAA WP-3D Orion aircraft. Researchers are currently in Barbados gathering data on the ocean and atmosphere for the mission.

A large research ship is seen from above surrounded by blue water. The shadow of a plane is also seen on the water, and the plane's wing is visible in the top right corner.
