    Competition 2 will fund the creation(!) of RISA teams in the Central Midwest and the U.S. Caribbean, two regions new to the RISA program. These regions include Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. 3/8

    While global averaged sea levels are rising, the rate of rise is not the same everywhere. For some places, that means faster sea level rise.

    Relative sea level rise along the Texas Gulf Coast is twice as large as the global average, and an extreme storm surge in Galveston Bay would threaten much of the U.S. petroleum and natural gas refining capacity.
