    While precip falls on the Southwest today (finally), ’s sees a return to dry conditions next week. The Central/Southern Plains should also be drier than normal. In contrast, the Northwest and surrounding areas should see decent precip. See

    12/8: The Southwest (except CA) is status quo in this week’s change map even after another dry week. Why? Because there’s no level worse than Exceptional Drought (D4). On a good note, the Northeast saw more improvements and parts are now -free.

    Over the next few days the lower 48 will remain relatively quiet, aside from some localized areas of rain and snow. On Friday a system will develop over the Mississippi valley, bringing widespread rain 🌧️ eastward through the weekend and a snow threat ❄️ to the upper Great Lakes.
