Timely corrections are good, no question. But setting the bar at better than Fox is way too low. They should have the prudence to check stories before publication, especially if the story is something media figures might personally want to be true.

No, that would be worse. Making a correction as quickly as possible is the best course of action.

Then I respectfully disagree that it impacts their credibility to have done so. Mistakes happen, journalistic integrity requires correction and so they did. If anything I think it makes them more trustworthy does it not?

They are too used to rapid fire news from this administration. As such, they generally don’t have time to work a story because something else will show up in 12-24 hours. I think it has made them somewhat lazy/sloppy as a result.
