Pleading the 5th is not an admission of guilt. Yes, I know Trump said it is. He's wrong. (He's often wrong). When you say what Trump said--even if you're just highlighting the hypocrisy--you're treating his wrong claim as if it's right. But it isn't.

Well the legal standard for witnesses in a civil trial is you can only take the 5th if you fear testifying opens you to criminal prosecution. That's precisely why jury can then interpret THAT by a defendant as admission of guilt if they want.

Criminal prosecution for what? Maybe something unrelated. And the fear could be unwarranted. Not saying that’s the case for Cohen, but I am cautioning against treating the 5th, and attorney-client privilege, as proof of guilt for a specific crime. Some do not use them maliciously
