In his confirmation hearing, Pompeo agreed there's no evidence Iran is violating the nuclear deal. But last summer, he said that it doesn't matter if Iran's complying, because the compliance is "grudging, minimalist, temporary."

Pompeo's saying what he needs to say to get confirmed (which is normal). And what he's saying is accurate. I have never understood the problem with the Iran nuclear inspection deal. We still have incredibly tight sanctions on them for other reasons and could add more sanctions at any time - say for not preventing Syria from using chemical weapons, why break the deal that it working?

I can understand criticisms to the decision to enter into the deal. But we can't go back and reverse that decision. Now that it's done, there's no reason to break it unless Iran breaks it first.
