Abortion is murder but shouldn't be punished. How to square that circle? We punish killing except in self-defense, war (mostly), and accident (sometimes). Abortion is none of those. "Murder" is the word for unjustified killing that must, in the name of justice, be punished. 1/x

That article's part of a philosophical debate about abortion in
@ArcDigi, which I think is one of the best things we've published. Here's the first entry, by@bernybelvedere https://arcdigital.media/abortion-is-wrong-even-if-the-fetus-is-not-a-person-bd7552841366 … 4/xShow this thread -
Kevin Williamson saying women who get abortions should be hanged is ridiculous. But he's right that murder should be punished. I don't know Williamson's intentions, but he highlighted a contradiction in pro-life arguments. If abortion shouldn't be punished, it's not murder. (END)

One other way to look at a fetus is to look at end of life. A fetus has less brain activity than someone declared "brain dead". We consider them, in effect, dead. Similar is a fetus.
-
Sort of. Other articles in the series (not by me) address this question. For example, one writer argues that the moral value of a human being derives from one having a future. In that sense, a fetus has a future, but someone declared brain dead does not.

What about late term when they have fingernails and a heartbeat?
-
80% are before 10 weeks- an inch. Late term abortions are usually medically necessary to save a mother’s life
-
You have a source on that?
-
Really though, I'd like to see that.
-
And of course you can look up the size based on weekpic.twitter.com/ojSwjLzlvp
-
So it's still over 8,000 heart beats intentionally ceased in 2014.pic.twitter.com/NKkaZYMi1L
-
And what is the reason for those? More than likely medical- the mother’s health. So you are saying a woman should jeopardize her life to give birth? She could have other chidren at home... they should be motherless because you want to force her to give birth?
-
I didn't say any of that. But you're making up scenarios you don't know are the case to justify killing babies.

Miscarriage is considered as normal a part of female life as periods. Many may go unnoticed. Unfertilized eggs, fertilized eggs, & live sperm pass out of our bodies daily/monthly. No has a funeral, so they must not consider it death.
-
Miscarriage is so common, but I question whether abortion is as common as the right would have its voters believe. Where are the best stats on that? There are plan B pills otc now. Isn’t abortion down? Wouldn’t it be if we were more prosperous a nation?
