        1) Trump's best skill is media, esp. TV 2) Putin, Xi demonstrate benefits of state media 3) "Don't trust the media" from local news, POTUS, and 24/7 news network create pro-regime narrative 4) Erdogan demonstrates how to gain power in democratic system relying on populist base

Unlike most state TV, Trump-Fox-Sinclair is a symbiosis of the administration and private companies, rather than government-run. It's less powerful than China's or Egypt's, but still significant. Solidifies the base and shapes public discussion, rather than manipulating everyone.

Trump-Fox symbiosis is obvious, with POTUS live-tweeting their shows. For Trump-Sinclair, there's Fox-style pro-Trump editorials mixed in with straight news, and Trump admin relaxing anti-monopoly FCC rules to allow Sinclair to buy Tribune media and control over 72% of local news

And there's this. Because of course Jared Kushner's involved, and of course he said the quiet part loud. Normally, you could spin this as a typical access-for-friendly-coverage deal. In context with everything else, it looks like part of a larger strategy.https://www.politico.com/story/2016/12/trump-campaign-sinclair-broadcasting-jared-kushner-232764 …

Why is this allowed to happen⁉️ Simple question. Russia 🇷🇺 running the country😞 Seems like it😒

I don't think Russia's running the country. The heads of Sinclair, Fox, and the U.S. government are doing it. Not even in direct coordination. More like symbiosis.

But, their agenda resembles closely held control and widespread manipulation to disseminate propaganda. Kremlin playbook?

Way over simplified and missing a ton in the chain but YEA! Like he said. The point is reality ladies & gentlemen. We now have state run media. This is Scary. Nuts in fact.

We can and will change the channel or turn it off. FOX is gone. WSET, my local Sinclair channel is gone now from my faves list, too. Hits where it hurts. Viewers and dollars.

We've had a form of state media in the United States for years, now. As long as the major media sources tailor their stories to support one political party, they're- in a way- owned by the state.
