Do you also think changes in tax rates are irrelevant? For example, if the government raised income tax rates for every bracket by 10 percentage points, would your reaction be "that doesn't matter--taxes then, taxes now"?

I would be personally against it, but it wouldn't be a change in the established order of things, any more than the recent tax reform package was.
