Donald Trump meeting directly with Kim Jong-un carries risks, but it's also an opportunity to change a situation that's gotten steadily worse across multiple presidencies.

Great insights, as usual. It's probably no accident the editor called out "If Trump cannot win significant concessions, there’s no need to cut a deal." What are the chances he won't make a deal? He'll make one just so he can say he made one. This has the potential for disaster.

I'm wary of that too. But he's also lambasted previous presidents for cutting deals with North Korea, attacked the Iran deal, as well as NAFTA and TPP. In general, he's been more anti-cooperation than pro-. Though it's possible that's just because other people made those deals.
