China/Japan dumping Steel on US to deliberately drive US Corps out of business, and Dems whining about tariffs on China and Japan's dumps?

Only 5% of US imported steel comes from Japan. Less than 2% comes from China. The biggest exporters of steel to US are (in order): Canada, Brazil, South Korea. There's no evidence they've engaged in dumping. Not sure where you're getting your info, but you've been misled.pic.twitter.com/hLFn94Nf9g

https://www.vox.com/2018/3/1/17066838/white-house-trump-steel-tariffs … Note in 2016 Obama even complained about Chinese dumping steel on US and imposed tariffs - Dems loved tariffs then.

That was smaller and much more targeted. This is larger, general, and therefore worse. I can’t speak for anyone but me, but I thought the 2016 protectionism was a bad idea, and pleased when it was quickly reversed.

Nicholas, I was wondering why you thought the Tariffs a bad idea? Be glad to listen to your reasons why.

Raise costs on consumer goods and manufacturing inputs. About 140,000 Americans work in steel or aluminum production. Over 6 million work industry that uses steel/aluminum. And everyone buys stuff with those metals in them.

Nick, if US steel and alum Corps sell at same price as foreign Corps are selling for now, (which they said would do) why would prices rise?
-
Because US companies can’t meet all the demand alone.
