Did you think these steel tariffs mean Trump's "getting tough" on China? When it comes to US steel imports, China's not even in the top-10. Take that, Canada, Brazil, and South Korea!pic.twitter.com/KgICeWbKDa

25%, that is a punitive tariff that is unsustainable. It'd only invite retaliation.
-
Exactly. And I haven't heard any economics-based explanation for that number either.
-
I asked my IPE colleague about that 25%, and he said he doubts that the differential on the global market is 25%. He thinks it's way too high
-
As best I can tell, it's just a round number.
-
You mean, Trump just wanted a flashy number like 5 isn't big enough, but 25 will show that i am strong"? If you are right (and i think you are), he needs to be hospitalized now.

We sold all our scrap metal to Asia to recyclers. Now we have to pay an import tariff to buy it back?

Very subtle sarcasm. I have some knowledge of aluminum suppliers for pharmaceutical blister backing. The question is where they get their aluminum raw material. A lot of it comes from Australia. Jamaica supplies some, but not as much as in the past.

Always nice when Trump's astute business sense comes bubbling up out of the sewer.
