"Nobody needs guns because we'd never become a tyranny & you can trust the cops," say people who've spent the last 13 months telling us the current President is a tyrant & the cops are dangerous racists.

Not sure how citizens with firearms check government tyranny in the 21st century. Americans who have taken up arms against the United States in the post-WWII era were overwhelmed by the FBI. The US military's not afraid of them. Tanks, jets, missiles, drones, etc. >>> AR-15s.

Why would a hypothetical tyranny that's so terrible Americans take up arms against it follow the law? (Also, that law applies to civilian law enforcement, not responding to armed revolution. But still, the first point holds).

The argument is in bad faith, a true civil war would involve factions of the military breaking off. We have hundreds of examples over last 150 years, he gets his jollies pretending to be an intellectual on Twitter

Agreed, a true civil war would involve factions of the military breaking off. That's why individual civilians with guns doesn't do anything to deter government tyranny.

Yes, I was agreeing with you. Civilians don't need military weapons, hunting rifles and maybe shotguns is about as much as a reasonable person would need and even about 85 percent of the population would be fine without even those
