Sometimes I don't want to agree, but you compel me to get out of my bubble. Obama made a political calculation however you look at it. He was wrong; Trump won. If alerting US voters was the right course with McConnel's help, then it was also the way to go without his backing.

Yeah. My point is either Obama should or should not have informed the public. McConnell could've been helpful or unhelpful (he was the latter). But the Senate majority leader does not control the president.

Clearly Obama would have been accused of meddling had he come out without bipartisan support. But perhaps he should have taken that step and let the chips fall where they may. Trump can still take stronger action now to protect the 2018 election. Will he?

No matter what Obama did at any point he was accused of partisanship. I reject the claim that people shouting about partisanship get a veto over a president's national security decisions (not saying you're saying that, just making the point). As for Trump... I doubt he will.

That is true. But absent bipartisan support by McConnell and Ryan, Obama’s publicizing intel would have been seen as meddling in the election. Obama put election integrity over informing public; Republican “leadership”, their party.
