There would be economic stimulus from a government network too. Suppliers and delivery will be contracted out. I suspect the economic impact will be a wash.

A wash nationally, perhaps. But not locally. Stores may have trouble staying open in poorer communities if many of their customers disappear because they lose SNAP and start getting food shipped in from elsewhere.

Ya, there could be negative local consequences - food deserts made worse. If Dems had suggested this idea, Repubs would have condemned it as socialist overreach. I see potential in the concept, but it depends on the goodwill of the government implementing it.

From the articles I’ve seen on this, the Admin has admitted it’s not a real plan. They’re just trolling Dems, hoping to get us stirred up, which helps them with Trump’s fracturing base. Because that’s the kind of government we have now in the USC—United States of Chaos.

Food stamps can also be used for crop shares and at farmers markets, a benefit directly to local farmers. Then again, packages can help buyers that have a hard time stretching their dollars for the month. It can also accomplish SnapEd goals to expose better meal options.

I'm sure you will see chains lobbying against this plan for just that reason.
