PS, the 1000 is about $720-650 or so after tax withholding (depending on your state tax withholding). People need to quit calling it $1000.

Fair point. I don't think that changes either argument. But in the interest of accuracy, yes.

$650 is nothing to sneeze at, but is nothing compared to what the corporations and hi met worth individuals are getting. Giving employees a $1000 a year permanent raise would do way more in the long run to help workers. But that would cost too much.
