So would normal FBI investigators. It wasn’t the basis of an indictment, let alone a conviction. Just helped demonstrate enough suspicion to justify looking at Page more closely. Given what we know about him, it’s hard to say suspicion was unwarranted.

Want to convince the country it's necessary to remove Trump? "Investigation in part inspired by Hillary-funded opposition research" won't cut it. Politically, that matters, whether anyone likes it or not. Look at the FBI's approval rating with Republicans now. The damage is done.
