1/2) I understand your point, but still think the whole experience shows costs of US intervention in other countries -- we make enemies -- also potentially more going on in Afghanistan. I don't support complete withdrawal from Afghanistan -- we agree on policy.

2/2) On the ISIS victories I would stress more the shift in policy from paying sons of Iraq to prosecuting their leaders (so I blame al-Maliki9. I'd at least hope that al-Abedi would have been able to prevent it without US military presence. But no way to know.
