Love you some push polls, dontcha? Publish the polls with the questions asked, including the preambles, Nick. Show me where 80% want to give green cards to dreamers with only drones and sensors in return.

Here's a normal (i.e. not push) poll showing 86% support DACA. "DACA plus more border security" supported 65-27. I don't know of a poll that specifically asks about drones and sensors, but "build the wall" is 37 for 62 against.https://twitter.com/ABCPolitics/status/912271312021852161?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Ftownhall.com%2Ftipsheet%2Fguybenson%2F2017%2F09%2F27%2Fpoll-americans-strongly-support-dream-act-additional-immigration-enforcement-n2386297 …

"Employers must verify status" is supported 79-19. That indicates about 80% support at least some enhanced security (I'm happy to add that measure in along with cost-effective border security). Together (86% like DACA and 79% like at least some security) = popular compromise.

I'd like to see the legislation at issue now, such as ending chain migration and the diversity lottery included instead of vague strawmen. And this doesn't even get to the public misperception that DACAs are as portrayed by the media and other proponents.

This is where we disagree You're arguing that blocking these popular measures may create leverage to pass less popular measures you want I'm arguing that Congress should pass these popular measures, because they'd improve the country, and give almost everyone something they want
-
You know that no Democrat supports e-verify, right? Not part of the proposed deal.

There's a good chance Trump signs whatever comes out of Congress, but Congress has to pass it first And there are multiple veto points--filibuster in the Senate, Ryan refusing to allow votes on anything unless a majority of Republicans support it in the House--that could block it

I fully agree that
#Congress has all the tools to fail. However, I do not believe Congress will allow a shutdown to take place, especially leading up to the#Midterms2018.#Republicans don't want a clean#DACA bill because it's what#Democrats want.
