I believe this to be true. I knew it was true regarding DJT. I believe the difference is that OW is capable of learning in the time before 2020. DJT wasn't/hasn't/won't. Still isn't a thing I could get behind at this time and I might not be here in 2020, so, moot.

She's certainly capable of learning more if she put her mind to it. (Trump obviously hasn't). But POTUS is not an entry-level position. I want someone with government experience. No exceptions.

Agreed. Now it's been brought up, I'm happy to see people getting involved, but I have problems with much of the current "run for something" mentality. Experience and knowledge isn't there in most cases and simply having good intentions isn't enough.

I like the enthusiasm of people who were not politically active until recently running for local and state office. Even Congress. But the presidency is multiple levels of complexity and responsibility above that.

1/? On another note, the ability of a candidate to engage in "statecraft" is invisible to most of the public (mainly because they never received education in it) and consequently does not figure in their voting decisions.

I wish it would factor into more voting decisions. But in general, foreign policy--including how well candidates understand the world and their ability to handle unexpected crises--is far from most voters' top priority. (This why George HW Bush is my favorite modern president).

Has Oprah expressed any interest in running for office? My impression is that she hasn't.

Um..technically so does every President who didn’t serve as a Governor. Which, BTW, is most of them. But would you say Bush was more qualified than Obama, Cuz he certainly wasn’t a better President by a long stretch.

I don’t know why people want to go down this particular rabbit hole. One said that if the right could do fatass we could do Oprah, but ffs why are we trying to emulate the right? They have proven to make disastrous decisions in leaders. Make better choices.

4/4 The whole idea of a person with naked ambition and shrewdness making decisions that benefit society while advancing themselves is something that many people can't get their heads around. I have tried in vain to explain it.

3/4 Also, statecraft, be it domestic or international, has distasteful elements that politicians don't like to reveal to the public, most of whom like to believe that leaders are either angels or devils.
