All the 25th amendment talk is stupid. It requires a cabinet majority and 2/3 of both houses. And it was designed for the possibility that POTUS has a stoke. Impeachment requires no cabinet, majority of the House, 2/3 of the Senate. Why support the harder option?
Unless the president accepts it--and there's no reason to assume he would--then it's up to Congress and requires 2/3 of both houses. That's a higher bar to clear.

True, in terms of procedure. But can you imagine the political situation if VP and a majority of the Cabinet continued to insist POTUS is disabled, while POTUS is denying it ? The VP & Cabinet wd only have triggered 25th A. after carefully lining up support on Hill.+

In current situation, I think Trump wd be history as soon as Pence and cohort make their move. It wd. represent the GOP's face saving way of removing him, side stepping full airing of 'crimes & misdemeanors' in impeachment process.+

So, I think GOP elites may be attracted by 25th A. at some point. They're increasingly disconnected, however, from the Trump 'base' and Trump, or someone acting on his behalf, cd easily call that base into the streets with cries of 'Deep State coup !' Therein lies danger.
