Stop calling the tax bill undemocratic. Yes, I know polls say it's very unpopular. And no, I don't think it's good policy. But elected majorities in the House and Senate voted for it and the president signed it. We don't govern by public opinion poll.
The influence of donors wasn't a secret, and came up repeatedly in 2016. Voters picked them anyway. If voters don't like it, hopefully they'll vote for different candidates next time.

The tax bill in fact is a text book example of anti-democracy. It was drafted in secret and passed before it could be scrutinized even by those legislators who voted for it. Corker's defense to claims that he benefitted from the pass through provision was that he did not read it

First, it was highly secretive since the superpacs are subject to limited disclosure rules. Second, limited disclosure of the workings of an undemocratic system does not make it democratic
