This isn't analogous. The context and environment has changed a bit in the last 130 years, so it's reasonable to think we there might be unintended consequences to going back to a pre-1887 state of affairs. However a pre-net neutrality state of affairs existed just 3 years ago.

And given the doomsday-ism of the pro-net neutrality crowed, it's perfectly reasonable to point out that the internet was doing fine in 2014, coupled with the reasons offered as to why no net neutrality makes sense.

Agreed, the doomsday-ism is ridiculous. But the issue's been controversial since 2007, when Comcast got caught throttling some web traffic. Settled for $16 million. Since 2007, big increases in streaming, smartphones, social media. The next 10 years will see big changes too.
