Michael Flynn pleading guilty brings America even closer to a Constitutional crisis. Charges against Kushner and Don Jr. are likely. How Trump and Congress react could strain the rule of law. Whether it holds or breaks is uncertain. Here's three scenarios:https://arcdigital.media/americas-on-a-collision-course-with-a-constitutional-crisis-7b732a35c6fc …

Nixon's 8.9.74 resignation was directly related to a WH visit on 8.7.74 by Repub. leaders Hugh Scott, Barry Goldwater & John Rhodes. They told RMN his Presidency was doomed. Whether a comparable leadership group capable of delivering a similar message exists today is doubtful.

I'd be surprised by that too. If there's going to be an impeachment, it will almost certainly require Democrats winning the House in 2018. And the Constitutional crisis could easily come before then.

I'm holding onto slim hope that, following a devastating series of indictments implicating Trump himself in very nasty stuff, and having already achieved the legislative victory which is their sine qua non (tax bill), GOP leaders will say: "this guy's gonna take us down in 2018."

The problem is they're tied to him either way. Anti-Trump voters will vote for Democrats. And pro-Trump voters will be angry at any Republicans that don't support the president.

Your second assertion holds the key: if by 'pro-Trump voters' you mean his 2016 voters, I'm betting a big chunk are ready to defect, or will be after more indictments. If you mean the die-hard 'base,' a 33% approval rating (or worse) may not look very compelling to leaders.

30-something approval nationally, but 80% among Republicans. To win a competitive race, Republicans need those voters.

I take the point, but think things may look differently after major indictments.

Possibly. Hopefully. We'll see.
