Democratic talking point: Republicans wouldn't even give Senators time to read the tax bill. Factually accurate. And on principle, they're right. But what difference would it make? No Dems would've voted Yes after learning more about what's in it. And Republicans don't care.
I'm skeptical that additional public pressure would've swayed votes in this instance. But the bill isn't law yet. The Senate will almost certainly have to take another vote, and if more time in the public eye would lead to some Senators switching to No, there's still time.

You shouldn't be that skeptical, it worked with the Obama Care repeal, the whole: you'll kill 20 million people thing seemed to have caused lots of hand wringing and gained 3 votes.

Perhaps you're right and your skepticism is certainly understandable. But I was similarly skeptical before the health care debate and look what happened. Yes, there's still time, which is good, but more time would've been better. You just never know in politics.
