Do you mean IP protections for software? Regardless, my point is not that there were no reasonable criticisms. There were. Just that once negotiations were over and the choice was all or nothing, those criticisms were outweighed by benefits, especially geopolitically.
No, because it's moving forward without the US. The choice, therefore, was not TPP or no TPP. It was TPP with the US gaining geopolitically in the Pacific Rim, or TPP with the US alienating Asian allies and others in North and South America.

The alternative sounds fucking wonderful, U.S influence declining is a godsend. the system of neoliberal trade deals has devastated southern asia, if china with more power can start shifting away from that then i welcome their rule.
-
What about China's behavior makes you think increased Chinese influence will result in less trade or in trade deals with rules more to your liking?
-
The recent development of environmental regulations and greater status of enviromentalist ideology in the chinese politics. But if the U.S remains chained to free trade, then this system will never fucking end, i'll take the chance at a system not dominated by american imperialism
