(THREAD) The Don Jr.-Wikileaks DMs read like a media organization promoting its published material, trying to ingratiate itself to a campaign, and asking for favors (unsuccessfully). Nothing more. That's not defending Don Jr or Wikileaks. It's defending objectivity.

I'm glad someone else is saying this too. Although WikiLeaks seem to be connected to Russia, the DMs didn't demonstrate anything illegal. We need to focus on the actual illegal activity of the campaign.

Exactly.

To that end,
@DonaldJTrumpJr didn't do things innocently. Whether he did them unknowingly may be a different story but, they all go to#Pattern and in furtherance of a#Conspiracy! (END)Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

The thing is, this didn’t happen in a vacuum. Trump & his associates, like Roger Stone, hyped up the hacked emails BEFORE Wikileaks released them. Trump constantly cited & promoted Wikileaks from the podium, at one point saying “I hope you’re able to find” Hillary’s emails.
-
Assange himself was once asked, point blank, why he would hurt Hillary & help Trump. He said Trump would never win and claimed, as he always does, to be impartial and an honest broker. Moreover, their DMs suggest the leaks may be a small part of a larger, ongoing conversation.
-
For a couple of years now, all of the leaks on Wikileaks help oppressive, secretive regimes like Russia and its allies, which goes against the what the site is supposed to stand for.
-
To claim there’s nothing unusual here is to ignore the fact that Wikileaks is more than a media org. with an agenda. It’s a hostile, pro-Putin intelligence service operating under the false pretense of objective, pro-transparency activism. There is nothing normal about Wikileaks.
