Is it beneficial for the world or the region for Iran to have an extra $150 billion to spend on their military?

If we could travel back in time, that'd be worth considering. But since we can't, it's irrelevant for deciding what's best to do now.

We were holding their assets, now we arent. The leverage is gone to put pressure on the Iranian govt. Should have sent $150B worth of ipads.

Exactly, the leverage is gone. That's what makes US reneging on its commitments and letting the Iranians out of their's such bad strategy.

Not inherently, no. It's an interesting debate. But it's also moot. At least regarding strategy moving forward.
