On principle, yes. But it's also the biggest reason the national legislature won't handle it. We're stuck. Best bet is probably the states.

Yes. Recall they upheld Arizona's districting commission against a challenge by AZ legislators. But this might be a step too far.

If they don't want to rule on the merits, they can say there's no standing to sue on a statewide basis, you have to challenge your specific district. That'd dispose of this case without any larger consequences.
