"Gov between you and your doctor" worked against Obamacare, which for most didn't do that
How will it work against #SinglePayer, which does?

Lesson of Republicans'
#ObamacareRepeal flop: General goal for healthcare without an idea how to get there politically is recipe for failureShow this thread -
#SinglePayer is more popular than#ObamacareRepeal. But that's on paper.#ACArepeal polled well until it was time for Republicans to do it.Show this thread -
Promises of good insurance, higher salaries, etc. are maybes Higher taxes and losing employer-provided insurance is a guarantee

No matter how it works in theory,
#SinglePayer massively disrupts health system. People are wary of change. That creates political headwindsShow this thread -
I know "how would you do it?" is out of fashion. But it's the only way things get done. (See:

As I wrote here, no matter its policy faults, the

whats to like about employer insurance today? increasing employee contribution& deductibles or decreasing benefits?
#Healthcare#SinglePayer -
It delivers healthcare. Whatever the problems, employer-provided insurance has high approval ratings. People are risk averse. Wary of change
-
Yes, people are risk averse... but wondering if those employer provided high approval ratings due to lack of a equal or better alternative

FYI, the only reason I work the job I do is to have healthcare. Untying healthcare from employment completely restructures our lives.
-
Big difference from ACA is that none of us have ever lived in a country where we could just leave a job and not worrying about dying.
-
Likewise, would be beneficial to small businesses who miss out on talent bc they can't afford to provide full benefits
-
You're saying why
#SinglePayer would be better in theory. Perhaps you're right. But my point's about politics, not the post-politics system -
Sure but you have to also remember a big part of why the GOP hated Obamacare was bc of Obama himself
-
And Single Payer is a simpler idea. Doesn't try to mix public and private. Easier sell. Either way, just talking abt it is good.

Tell people that salaries will increase. Many companies pay less in wages to account for healthcare. To me, that's a good thing

Absolutely because 1. You wouldn't need to pay premiums, copays, deductibles anymore & 2. You have more money!

You'd think so but I don't think it will happen anytime soon... The right has their base absolutely brainwashed!
