That's more dangerous. Americans strongly dislike white nationalism (well... most do), but more would be open to #Bannon's version.

I believe
#SteveBannon when he said "Ethno-nationalism—it's losers. It's a fringe element." http://prospect.org/article/steve-bannon-unrepentant … 13/x -
The neo-Nazis and white supremacists make
#Bannon's nationalism look bad. He wants it to have wide appeal and thinks it can. 14/x -
That's the saving grace of the Trump administration. They're too incompetent to pull off real fascism.

PS: Hypernationalist-but-not-white-nationalist is why
#Bannon called his main enemy "globalists." (Plus other main enemy China). -
PS2: And yes, "globalist" is sort of code for "Jew," in the Elders of Zion sense. But not exactly.

PS3: The key for
#Bannon was strict agreement with his vision of national, civilizational loyalty. Not necessarily race or religion. - 1 more reply

Excellent thread. From your point of view, who are the European Steve Bannons (assuming analogy is applicable)?
-
That's a really good question, and I don't have an immediate answer. You have any in mind based on how I described
#Bannon? -
Difficult to answer. The French Front National with Marine Le Pen may be closest to Bannon in terms of nationalist economic agenda.
-
... and Nigel Farage in the UK.
-
That's who I thought, but Farage not smart enough. Geert Wilders and Norbert Hofer close, but maybe too racist. Le Pen perhaps. It's inexact
-
As a media person turned politician, maybe Roger Köppel (CH) could be included, but his economics are more libertarian than Bannon's.

Nationalism and national borders are obsolete. They have been made so by capitalism. They are retained only to control the masses.
