I continue to believe the counter to Trumpism is rising above it, not stooping to its level. Give Americans a real alternative, not a similar attitude with different policies. “Never argue with an idiot. Fair. I can't see anything Dems do working anyway. Despite being horrible I know at least 2 Steve King voters because Abortion. They've said if a dictator got rid of abortion they'd support it because its more important than freedom. I think people way underestimate these folks

I can't possibly believe someone who won a very close election against the second most disliked nominee in modern American history, whose approval ratings are underwater despite a good economy, is a shoo-in for reelection. Not impossible, but come on.

Like, can you really see a Dem, right now, winning Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin? Plus NC & Florida? I can't see them winning all 5, and they need to to get the EC votes.

Fair. I'm a super pessimist on the Dems chances...I have no faith in my fellow American's ability to make a rational choice based on evidence ha

I don't think that's fair. The majority of her campaign was enormously positive. Not commenting on demonstrable fascism and foreign influence would be irresponsible. This isn't on our leaders. It's on the authoritarians in our electorate.

And there's no pleasing these folks. The Obama Administration was overwhelmingly dignified and cautious, and they branded him as weak. Hillary was very positive, but commented briefly on demonstrable fascism and foreign influence, and she was branded as negative.

Authoritarians who do not believe in liberalism do not vote based on normal policy. They vote based on grievance. And so they engage and criticize disengenuously. And with an entire propaganda network driving them, they are beyond reach.
-
So we have to focus on driving support from those who actually believe in liberal democracy. And the largest windfall there is the non-voter block. So we have to demonstrate what they could gain from voting. And what they could lose. The message needs to be both hopeful and dire.
