That's the unifying factor for both parties now, isn't it?

It's a big factor, no doubt. I don't know exactly how much for either party, though I object to the notion regardless of where it comes from.
-
It's an unhealthy trend, to be sure. But I think it's going to get worse before it gets better.
-
I agree. Unfortunately.

It’s all mimetic rivalry. Each party imitates the behavior (and desires) of the other. This will escalate until it reaches a violent crisis.
-
I don't know if it's symmetric, but it is mutually reinforcing. When I point out "you know, you don't have to escalate," partisans look at me like I'm crazy.

So they finally figured out this is war and it’s time to start acting like the Dems. Good on them.

Both parties are unified by their negative partisanship towards each other. For example, I was blocked by a liberal friend on all social media because I made a facts-based argument that Ford is the more likely person to be lying. The argument wasn’t even directed at the friend.

I would say parts of the left disregarded both facts and norms during the process, which would go against conservative principles.

I agree, the so called "Never Trumpers" are becoming harder to find, their hatred for the "Left" becoming stronger than their hatred for Trump
