There are two Kavanaugh nominations. Within America’s two big information universes, two unshakable narratives have taken hold. No matter how it turns out, these contradictory narratives will persist, doing lasting damage to the country. (THREAD)

I usually appreciate your takes even when I don’t always agree. You tend to skew contrarian, which can be very useful and thought provoking when done without malice. Here, I think you have missed or extremely discounted what you might call the “female bubble”. /1

Except it is not a bubble, it is the lived experience of many, many women that have watched men like Kavanaugh abuse their power and get away with it. The guys who go along with the Kozinski atmosphere at their jobs because it propels them forward while holding women back. /2

I would say that this is a nonpartisan issue, except I think many women are being driven out of the GOP (so they won’t identify that way on polls about Kavanaugh), or are still living in an abusive narrative themselves. /3

So you may may not see a pronounced Kavanaugh backlash among R women. But many women have known too many men like Kavanaugh and still aren’t part of the blue bubble. /4

Anyway, you might classify me as living in my blue bubble, but I don’t see both sides as having a position worthy of respect/consideration. As much as the liberals may despise/fear a conservative Justice, only Thomas and Kavanaugh have had harassment allegations. /5

I believe Anita and I believe Dr. Ford and I believe Ramirez and I believe there are more women out there with stories that are worse than theirs about Kavanaugh. I believe Al Franken’s accusers too. And I want all these types of men out of power, D or R beside their name. /end

These red/blue bubbles don’t encompass everyone—They’re two big groups that have solidifying, mutually exclusive convictions about Kavanaugh. I think you’re right that women’s anger about this and related situations is a major force. But it overlaps with the divide I noticed 1/2

Women, as you note, have moved towards the Democrats (it’s apparent in polls). Kavanaugh divide is whether you believe accusers or think it’s a manufactured partisan hit job. The “female bubble” you mention is convinced of the former. Though millions of GOP women disagree. 2/2
