I think it reinforced the impression that the left will stop at nothing to defeat Kavanaugh, and that therefore surrender would be tantamount to suicide.

I agree. I’ve seen that conviction spread and harden over the last 24 hours.

It started with Grassley's looking emasculated in the negotiations with Ford's lawyers. The New Yorker thing just applied a few million years' worth of geological force and made it diamond-hard.

I think two things happened at similar times that changed my mind as a conservative: 1-Ford’s last witness and lifelong friend also didn’t corroborate her story. There’s absolutely no proof and her handling of the timing & hearing seem very politically motivated. ....1/2

2-Ramirez’s claims are highly dubious. She wasn’t even sure about Kavanaugh being the guilty party until talking with lawyers provided by the Democrats. Avenatti, running for POTUS already, is just making up random bullshit. It all seems politically motivated.

Terrible take: further allegations haven't pushed Republicans perspectives. They do not care if Ms Ford is telling the truth or not. They only care about installing Kavanaugh onto the SCOTUS.
-
What's hardening is GOP tactic. They're moving away from "we believe something happens, but..." to all out "they're lying" because with more accusations the less believable the former tactic becomes. You have to stop thinking GOP are acting in good faith on any of this.

Makes perfect sense to a Republican. The more accusations there are the grander the conspiracy.

Imagine the reaction of Kavanaugh admitted it. "The leftist conspiracy must have gotten to his family!"
