BURDEN OF PROOF? Kavanaugh deserves a Supreme Court seat, and you need to prove beyond a reasonable doubt he doesn't. vs. No one deserves a Supreme Court seat, and you need to prove that elevating Kavanaugh is better for the country than alternative options.

2/2 I dislike almost every ruling or Roberts, but at the end of the day, reading his Slips show carefully placed rulings, grounded in settled law.

Frankly, I don’t think judges should be political picks at all - elected or politically appointed. Sort out an independent commission of professional peers as per various other countries and get on with it.
-
Ohh, good thought! I thought you were gonna go withthey “they should be elected” which is even worse, cause they rule based on being re elected. But yeah! A group of professionals who know law, evaluating them! Love it

Why should a President receive “deference”? Any Presidential nominee should be examined thoroughly and only confirmed if found worthy.
-
Because the constitution gives him the right to nominate judges. So you should have some sense that “this judge is not from my political point of view, but if he or she is a decent person, they are the presidents choice”. Mind you, personally I do not think it should be 1/2

2/2 a political appointment. It think it should be an appointment of judicial professionals, lawyers, scholars. But I will never see that happen I. The us.

I’m with you. I’m not a favor of Kavanaugh any more than I am of Thomas. I do not think either of them, despite recent claims to the contrary on Kavanaugh, have a good track record as an honest, considered judge. 1/2
