Mark Judge's defense of Kavanaugh is "I don't remember any of that stuff going on," which is not especially persuasive from someone who literally wrote a book about how he got blackout drunk a lot back then.

I think Judge's response that he does not remember is honest (and he must be under pressure to give a firmer denial). Claiming not to remember is believable. It's just not a persuasive defense of Kavanaugh. (Note, it's not condemning either).

The repeated blackouts caused memory loss.

Here's an interesting little read for you. Gives you a little perspective as to his character. Or lack thereof.https://dailycaller.com/2013/08/20/barack-obama-the-first-female-president/ …

It’s not at all clear what an alternative honest response might be That he specifically remembers it not happening? That is, on the basis of what he remembers about that night, he can affirmatively assert that the accuser is being untruthful? He’d be rightly crucified for that.

We’re talking about a party more than 30 years ago; no one possibly has a complete and accurate recollection at this point, if they have any specific recollection at all. The only two honest answers are (a) I remember that happening, or, (b) I do not remember that happening.

The “Kavanaugh definitely did not do that” route would immediately result in him being dragged for categorically asserting that she’s being untruthful despite the fact he was drinking a lot. It’s a no win here and this was the least not-a-win of his available options.

Even if he said "yes I remember that night. It was *gives exact date and names who was there*" it would be brushed off for the same reason.
