Is POTUS delusional? Serious question. Most assume he’s principally a liar. He knows that, say, thousands died in Puerto Rico, but it makes him look bad, so he says otherwise. But he loves Donald Trump and watches a lot of Fox. Staffers feed the fictions. He might believe it all.

Lots of people say he's got mental problems but I think that just gives him cover for being a racist asshole who wants to destroy everything good about America.

By “delusional” I don’t mean “has mental problems.” I mean “believes things that are not objectively true.”

During the campaign he picked up a magazine, looked at the cover, and announced that it was Trump magazine. Then-- without being asked-- he held it up to the TV cameras for all to see. It was not Trump magazine. He is delusional.

The sign of a true narcissist, is one who, when he continues to repeat the same lie over and over, eventually truly believes it. He believes it to the extent that he could pass a lie detector it’s that crazy.

I come down somewhere in the middle. He accepts that he is a “bit of a con man” but “no one gets hurt”. And then trusts fox to fill in the details.

I think it's both. He knows he's not being fully truthful, but also believes some or most of what he's saying, so he feels justified because he's only "embellishing", like all good businessmen/salesmen/politicians.
