Bolton's first big speech as National Security Advisor is... about the International Criminal Court?!? There weren't any more pressing issues to address? Perfectly distills Trump officials' devil's bargain: Put up with everything else, get free reign on your signature pet peeve.https://twitter.com/just_security/status/1039155409548963841 …

The sorry part is, apparently it must be true or we would fight the allegations. But in Trumps and the GOPs new playbook attack anyone who questions your methods.

Bolton and others' attacks on the ICC and other int'l institutions long pre-date Trump. I'm not anti-ICC, but if the allegations are true I'd still likely oppose turning over American personnel to int'l jurisdiction. Still, the issue is very far down the list of pressing concerns

I have heard some scathing reports about our involvement in Yemen. But not sure what's true.

Mostly those reports are about Saudi activity (eg blowing up a school bus, killing at least 29 kids). US provides extensive support, and is arguably morally responsible, but isn't pulling the trigger. There's also been tragic errors with US drone strikes that've killed civilians.
