It does--by weakening US relationships with Pacific rim countries. That's why I said it was a bad idea to bail on the TPP and then try to confront China. US would've been in a much better position to confront China as the leader of a large bloc, rather than alone.

China has used NK as a fool against US for years, surely you know that. China and NK are really one problem, not two distinct ones. Solving them individually has been a piecemeal approach, tried for years, and ineffective.

There isn't the slightest indication the Trump administration is confronting China and North Korea as a single problem. Rather, it's confronting them as separate problems, but at the same time.
