If you wanted to pressure North Korea, starting a trade war with China was dumb. If you wanted to pressure China, bailing on TPP and imposing tariffs on allies was dumb. Rally the world behind one pressure campaign and it might work. Instead, you decided to fight everyone at oncehttps://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1033045280143355904 …

...Secretary Pompeo looks forward to going to North Korea in the near future, most likely after our Trading relationship with China is resolved. In the meantime I would like to send my warmest regards and respect to Chairman Kim. I look forward to seeing him soon!

I thought you said China would benefit from us bailing on TPP.

It does--by weakening US relationships with Pacific rim countries. That's why I said it was a bad idea to bail on the TPP and then try to confront China. US would've been in a much better position to confront China as the leader of a large bloc, rather than alone.

China has used NK as a fool against US for years, surely you know that. China and NK are really one problem, not two distinct ones. Solving them individually has been a piecemeal approach, tried for years, and ineffective.

There isn't the slightest indication the Trump administration is confronting China and North Korea as a single problem. Rather, it's confronting them as separate problems, but at the same time.

"You decided to fight everyone at once" in such a way that your efforts were self-cancelling: helter skelter, you put weapons in the hands of those you wanted to attack.

China loaned $500 million to a Trump Construction Co. in Ondonesia that was going broke. Then trump wanted to bail out ZTE. Is that what you meant?
