"First they came for the socialists, and I wondered why they were coming for themselves" isn't how the poem goes. Because the Nazis weren't socialists.
The Soviets were never fascists. Authoritarian, yes, but far left authoritarian, not far right. You can tell because they primarily defined us-them by class and economic system, not race, nationality, or religion.

Yes. That's the part shared by all authoritarians. The subcategories--fascist, communist, military dictatorship, etc.--depend on who the system empowers.
