There are many ways a president could use clear Article II powers and violate free speech. Not mutually exclusive. Abuse of power, which featured in the impeachment cases against Nixon and Clinton, means legal Article II powers, used illegitimately.https://twitter.com/xbradtc/status/1030898830743498752 …

Anthony Kennedy's retirement took effect at the end of the day on July 31. The part at the end where you mention him should be updated to reflect that fact.

Thanks!

No worries. It's a moot point anyway since Mueller won't be indicting Trump. Which doesn't mean SCOTUS won't be involved at some point. Just not on that one.
-
I agree, Mueller won't be indicting Trump. SCOTUS could end up involved in any of the scenarios. And that brings the possibility of a crisis-deepening 4-4 (no one confirmed yet, or Kavanaugh recused).

Why is it always the "coming" constitutional crisis? His incremental line crossing IS the crisis. At this rate we'll still be talking about when it's a crisis while crouching in fear because it's illegal to question him.
-
I suppose it depends on one's definition of Constitutional crisis. I'm treating it as an inflection point where two parts of government come into direct conflict, the result is uncertain, and however it's decided shapes the future. I think that's coming, but hasn't happened yet.

Close? What the heck else has to happen?
-
A direct conflict between two parts of the government without a clear solution, perhaps brought on by Mueller's final report, or the president's reaction to, say, Don Jr. getting indicted.

Not quite sure the intellectual connection was made about how removing the security clearance curtails keeps Brennan from speaking freely. The “I’m a butthurt pseudo intellectual” connection was made - but, not a connection in reality...
-
I couldn't help but notice how these same people said nothing when Alex Jones was deplatformed on all fronts. The only thing striking Brennan's security clearnace did was remove the veil of "he has clearance and therefore must know things" from anything he says now.
-
Because there's a categorical difference between a private company and the government, especially when it comes to political speech.
-
If he’s speaking/working for a private company, then he doesn’t need a security clearance. The only thing the clearance does is increase his value to the private company because of a perception; as said in the post you replied to above.

And when the crisis hits then what? Nothing. No action will be taken. The game is already over.
-
I think that's excessively pessimistic. It's certainly a possibility, but not a done deal yet. We'll see.
-
I'd very much like it if you were correct on this point but the trend so far does not give me a tonne of hope. On the other hand, keeping hope alive is essential for meaningful resistance so I shall endeavour to remain hopeful if only vicariously.

WTF SECURITY CLEARANCE HAS TO DO WITH FREE SPEECH?! Violation of free speech is meaningless set of words. did u want to say Brennon's RIGHT to free speech? How as it violated? He can continue to throw his shitfits as he wants, no restrictions. In other words, you lied

Absurd. Brennan can say anything on TV today that he could say last week. His 1A rights are not affected in any way. Security clearances are not a pension program.

I’m sorry but NOTHING matters until or unless the stock market declines. It is going to be the arbiter of his Presidency, short-term. The Republicans won’t turn on him until they are losing money. Even the poor ones with no portfolios.
