Socialism is a tried-and-failed ideology, caused immense suffering. In capitalism, some regulation and redistribution is a no-brainer and everyone does it. Wish we could discuss at policy level (what are pros/cons of this redistribution?) rather than grand ideology (pick a team!)

But there's something so human about investing time in debating grand ideologies and the meaning of words. And the specific policy debates are still out there.

I enjoy grand ideological debates as much as anyone (and more than most). But few people are actually arguing for seizing the means of production or for unfettered laissez faire, yet critics prefer to argue against those rather than actual positions.
