I think there's some truth to this. But I also think that studying the history of the rightwing & its electorate makes it clear that no definition of racism will win over Republicans-- except for "reverse racism," which validates their perceived victim hood.

My point is aimed much more broadly than the current US political situation. Principles that apply universally are better than those that apply selectively. Human rights is a good example. The idea would be much weaker if it applied to some humans, rather than all.

And that's why I think there's some truth to your initial tweet. Because there is. But the right has used the idea of "color blindness" itself to promote racism. So... I can't wait for the Post-Post-Truth future when this discussion could be more fruitful.
