My only argument would be that we should be very skeptical when layers of complication are added, both for security and cronyism reasons.

That's an argument for doing it right, and could apply to pretty much any government program. I fully agree. But it's not an argument for not doing it at all.

I'm assuming that they will argue that it is too expensive and unnecessary, since all of the voter fraud is by non-native's voting. That is the only argument I can imagine. I haven't actually seen any arguments though. They pretty much just ignore that there is any problem.

My theory, because the republicans know they cannot continue to rule with a Republican, “fake” religious fist without becoming a dictatorship. Today’s republicans are Trump’s republicans and they embrace living under a dictatorship rather when share any power with the majority.
