From reactions to Ocasio-Cortez's Daily Show clip I expected fire-breathing socialism. Watched it, heard garden-variety liberalism: Raise taxes, cut military spending, spend on social programs. Disagree, sure. But after a big debt-financed, rich-skewing tax cut, it's not weird.
Having watched Sanders’ presidential campaign, I know he’s not for me. Foreign policy is the biggest reason, but there are others. I’m quite critical of socialism, including the Bernie variety. Still, the reaction to Ocasio-Cortez strikes me as oddly overblown.

I thought Sanders' complete, almost willful, ignorance of foreign policy was strange, and did not vote for him, but on domestic politics he's a New Deal Democrat, not a Socialist.

Agree with this being overblown. Shows how upstarts are truly feared by establishment types.

But it is not just the establishment who have reacted this way. Their own supporters think these people are much more radical than they are.
