It's just too damn long, too. It keeps going and going and going. The episode where Jessica is hired by the woman whose parents died in "The Avengers" is completely unnecessary. It adds nothing. It could easily go from thirteen episodes to eight. Just introduce Kilgrave earlier.

I also hated the soap operatic elements. Those elements are exactly where the show becomes most banal and predictable. But at least it was more or less self-contained. I know there are lose threads, but Kilgrave dies, so the main thread was wrapped up.

That's anything but the case with "Luke Cage," which is nothing but lose ends ater the last episode. Luke's off to jail, Diamondback is stil alive, Black Mariah is sitting pretty. "Luke Cage" ends but it doesn't conclude. That last episode, woof, what a dog's breakfast.

All of that said, "Luke Cage" was easily the one I enjoyed most and the only one I'd recommend without hesitation.

Where "Luke Cage" really shines is its acting. It has a great cast, from the leads down to the supporting players, and they are all fabulous. Starting with Mike Colter. He's the real deal. He sounds a bit like Michael Dorn (Worf on "Star Trek") to my ears. A good role model.

Don't get me wrong, "Luke Cage" has many of the same flaws as the other Netflix shows under discussion: too many distractions and diversions, too many episodes, too many people doing dumb things. But it has a weight and substance that the others lack.

Like "Jessica Jones," its fourth episode (the flashback one where he's buried in rubble) is uncessary. As are most of the flashbacks. I know they provide background. But they take up space and slow things down, too. And the episodes are so long. 45 minutes, no more.

Misty Knight goes after Diamondback twice without backup and nearly dies both times. And she loses her phone, with fatal consequences. She's smart, but she does some real dumb things. So does Diamondback, as Shades keeps warning him. But no one listens in any of these shows.

Speaking of Shades, if you ask me he's the most interesting bad guy on the show. Diamondback and Cottonmouth both talked a lot, Shades not so much. There's a lesson there.

Oh, I almost forgot. There's a referene to Frank Castle in one of the later episodes. I thought "The Punisher" came out after "Luke Cage." Did I miss something?

The Punisher had a prominent role in Daredevil Season 2, which came out before Luke Cage.

There were two seasons of "Daredevil" befoe "Luke Cage"? They must've been back-to-back more or less, if that's the case.

IIRC, it went Daredevil, Jessica Jones (which introduced Luke Cage), Daredevil 2 (which introduced Frank Castle), Luke Cage, Iron First.

And I'd skip Iron Fist and just go straight to Defenders

I'd skip defenders. Way too fucking much Iron Fist. If you took the amount of Danny Rand in one episode of Defenders, and then spread that one episode-worth over the entire season, that would have been ok.
