Had dinner with friend from Turkey. Talked about Erdogan and Democratic backsliding. Not feeling great. Signs were there a year and a half in, but he didn’t really do it until year 4 or 5. Of course it can happen here. Of course it can. If it doesn’t, it’s because people stop it.
No doubt. That’s how it goes for any possible problem that doesn’t materialize. Did it not happen because the concern was overstated? Or did it not happen because the concern prompted a response that stopped it? Often impossible to know.

No offense, but Alex Jones and David Icke have been using this argument for decades. "Our alarmism prevented that thing we told you was going to happen that didn't happen". However, the UN was warned about the situation in Rwanda and did nothing.

None taken. I acknowledge it’s difficult to determine empirically. After all, we’re talking about things that didn’t happen.
