You don't understand. They are going to pivot next to justifying the collusion with Russia. They will encourage their followers to cheer for Russia. To cheer for Putin. To associate being Republican with being Pro-Russia. They've already started. There is a larger plan here.

I've seen some variations on "yes, Russia did it, and thank God they did" from a few true believers. But I haven't seen anything like that from mainstream Republicans. If things go that way, could see a split. Though after the last 2 years, can't totally rule out the alternative.
-
You’re seeing a testing of the waters. Once that idea is introduced by the fringe and there isn’t immediate GOP pushback against it, it won’t take long for it to become mainstream as a viable opinion. Isn’t that what you poli sci guys call an “Overton Window” shift?
-
Yes, that's the phrase for what you're describing. This week, there's been an atypically high amount of pushback. We'll see if it lasts.
-
I’ve been shocked at the way things that would have been deal breakers before are mere blips in the news cycle. Even the amount of pushback we are seeing today is only atypically high relative to the incessant fawning of the last year and a half.
-
I've been shocked by that too. It's really something.
