Greenwald's a great example of what I called internet radicals helping authoritarians. So focused on knocking the US (and the West) down a peg that they miss how that helps governments that are far worse on free speech and other freedoms they value.https://arcdigital.media/why-are-internet-radicals-helping-authoritarians-824c6d548fe3 …

For example, Greenwald doesn't have to go on Russian government propaganda outlet RT--or, for that matter, Fox News--to promote the Russian government's arguments. He has his own website. He doesn't have to let himself be used. He just thinks any trade-offs are worth it.pic.twitter.com/qoArVEJ3Ly

In 2016-17 I noticed people who shared Greenwald's views celebrating Hillary's defeat, unaware, or unwilling to admit, that what was replacing neoliberalism was worse. Lately some of them are silent, so I wonder if there's some embarrassment on their part.
-
Don't know about them, but Greenwald's hardly silent, and clearly not embarrassed.

This would be an awesome blurb for his next book.
-
Ha! Sure. If his publisher wants it, I'd be happy to oblige.

No offense, but Greenwald is not an idiot or rube. He’s not some innocent who is accidentally supporting them. But to burn what he sees as Western democracies run amok, he sides with the Russians. He could nuance or temper his defense or support of them. But he isn’t doing that.
-
That's what I meant by inability to understand that international power is relative. He's so focused on tearing down the United States--and the West more broadly--that he refuses to see who that helps and who'd get hurt along the way.

Pointing out that the evidence behind this is sketchy and suspect doesn't make somebody a 'contrarian' and it also isn't 'helping Russia'. The truth is the truth, regardless of who is assumed to benefit so the 'helping Russia' bullshit is nothing more than red herring.
-
Of course not. But constantly moving the goalposts and willfully ignoring evidence to maintain a preconceived conclusion is.
-
Except, that's NOT what he's doing. What he's doing is following the actual evidence where it leads. Media sources are starting at the conclusion and trying to make the evidence fit their preconceived ideas. Unfortunately, seems to be Mueller's M.O. as well.
-
You're focusing on one thing while ignoring the rest. For example, he didn't have to go on a Kremlin propaganda outfit to promote his pro-Russian PR effort. There are many ways to criticize US gov, media, a specific policy, etc. without contributing to Russian propaganda effortspic.twitter.com/qgkKTnpGus

Hey, numbnuts. He's debunking claims that gutless cowards like you refuse to actually look into. It's what Greenwald does as a journalist. Did you notice how unchallenged the anti-Russia propaganda goes in mainstream sources? He's countering falsehoods perpetuated by 'sources'.
-
Greenwald is not a journalist! He’s a hack with an agenda. The isn’t a grain of an objective reporting process in his approach to things.
-
No, he actually IS a journalist and his 'agenda' is debunking bad claims. Clearly, you have no idea what that looks like.
-
Cool. How did the 2016 election go for you Green Party folks? Getting the results U wanted? Seems like combatting Climating Change, being anti-strongman dictators and driving for gender/race equality is at the top of Trump/Putin’s agenda
